Health Insurance Benefits Administrator

About the job

This role is for those that are technically inclined as you’ll be using new technology to facilitate the process! The Benefits Administrator works with (new and existing) clients to ensure that health insurance enrollment process is completed in a timely, defect-free, and smooth manner – all while providing a WOW customer service experience.


  • Negotiate with vendors and administrators for best plans, options and rates
  • Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators
  • Act as a liaison between producers and insurance carriers
  • Review and evaluate information pertaining to employee enrollment and group renewals
  • Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes
  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees.
  • Coordinate daily benefits processing. Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, etc.
  • Provide customer service support to internal and external customers.
  • Work with Health Insurance Carriers to ensure paperwork is processed timely and accurately.
  • Educate customers on insurance and insurance products, as appropriate
  • Ensure new and existing customers receive appropriate and timely communications – from Welcome kit onward
  • Answer incoming calls; communicate updates verbally and in-writing – maintain a positive, can-do spirit
  • Monitor Chat function, as requested
  • Maintain accurate records and information in business system/CRM
  • Identify gaps and issues that need to be resolved to provide WOW Customer service
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve problems.


  • 5 years Customer Service experience
  • Health Insurance Licensed
  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan design
  • College degree, preferred
  • Computer Proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products
  • Excellent verbal and communications skills
  • Experience with ZOHO, preferred
  • Ability to learn new technology quickly
